BISPHENOL A FACT VERSUS HYSTERIA
Reedsburg, WI, April 2008—Error filled news reports tied to bisphenol A (BPA) create a scare in consumers of plastics. Pace has pulled together sources to assist in separating fact from hysteria.
As a plastic extruder of sheet and roll products Pace sells over 90% of
it’s materials to printers for signage, displays, and packaging. Despite
the fact that very little of this material comes in contact with food or
beverage, Pace verifies that all virgin materials being processed at its
facility are nonhazardous materials.
With recent news reports tying BPA to a host of plastic materials,
identified solely by recycling codes, Pace reopened its verification of
ingredients for all raw materials being purchased and processed. Not
only did Pace confirm that its polystyrene was BPA free but that Pace’s
POLYGRAPH.ics (polyethylene, polypropylene) and
BIOGRAPH.ics™ (agri-based material) were also free of this chemical.
The initial broadcast of the BPA warnings left the general public with
concern over the products they use at home and how it might effect their
families. In less than twenty-four hours information countering the
claims were posted on line, in newspapers, and via broadcasts. In the
interest of assuring Pace’s hometown community, employees, and
customers, Pace has reviewed the literature and offers a couple of
sources to further educate you on the status of BPA. Please feel free to
visit these sites and if further information is needed contacted Pace
Industries directly.
